The official said the American firms are named along with other foreign companies that provided arms and ingredients for making chemical and biological weapons to Iraq.
Arms experts say it is likely that companies from all five permanent council members sold materials to Iraq that were used to develop its weapons.

The problem is that American workers have no access to this database of job opportunities, and the government has no plan to provide that access.
In fact, the DOL has refused requests to open the list to American citizens (taxpayers?), although many would undoubtedly be qualified for the open positions.
This is not a xenophobic diatribe about Americans first, but simply a suggestion that programs administered by the U.S. government, and paid for by American taxpayers, should be at least fair and open to those taxpayers.

The foreign ministry statement said the report had wrongly identified several businesses involved in oil-for-food as French, whereas they were American but had used French branches, agents or intermediaries.

WASHINGTON - The Bush administration should provide a list of American companies that did business with Iraq under a U.N.-sanctioned program, the senior Democrat on the Senate Foreign Relations Committee said Wednesday.
Negroponte said such a list hadn't been compiled, but added that he would look into the matter and return to the committee with an answer.
The General Accounting Office, Congress' investigative arm, estimated last month that the Iraqi government pocketed $5.7 billion by smuggling oil to its neighbors and $4.4 billion by extracting illicit surcharges and kickbacks on otherwise legitimate contracts.
