A regiment was commanded by a Colonel, and had a Lieutenant Colonel, 3 Majors, and staff of an Adjutant, a Quartermaster, a Commissary, and a regimental Surgeon and assistant.
This army, a centralized and national one, is under the direct control of the Imperial government, the Ministry of the Army, and ultamatley, the Commander-In-Chief of the Imperial Armed Forces, Maria Theresa III Habsburg-Lothringen.
These regiments are not part of the provinces *proper*, so their orders do not have to be passed through a provincial legislature.

After various reorganizations and a period of further growth, an SAS Brigade was formed in Scotland in January 1944, consisting of two British regiments (1 and 2 SAS), two French regiments (3 and 4 SAS), a Belgian squadron (later 5 SAS), and a signal squadron.
In 1952, the Malayan Scouts was formed and were redesignated 22nd Special Air Service Regiment (22 SAS), thus marking the official return of the SAS to the regular Army's order of battle.
One boat, however, broke down and the soldiers refused to compromise the operation by calling for help on the radio and were blown rapidly eastwards and were later rescued by helicopter.

The funny part of the story, was that about 5 years later, an American army training team came to the UK to train British forces in the use of the 'Stinger'.
However, I have trained women for the infantry for the UK reserve forces (Territorial army), when I was at the ITC Catterick, they do a 2 week crash infantry course with the men, which is pure fieldwork and rangework.
My only gripe as a soldier (although I never served in the Falklands) was that the Army were standing by and kept back from Stanley so the Marines could be the first in (even though the Paras got there first).

The British Army is in my opinion the most effective fighting force in the world at the jobs it is tasked with.
Its specialised units such as the SAS, Gurkas offer the Army a huge range of tactical abilities; also the parachute regiment offers an apparelled rapid reaction force capable of rapid deployment anywhere in the world with numerous insertion capabilities.
The current British Army restructuring will enhance the individual soldier’s capabilities and will produce a more effect and professional force for the 21st century.
