Atari: 80 Classic Games in One (PC) Reviews. PC Games Reviews by CNET.
While the large number of Atari 2600 games is a great feature of this package, the real draws are the 18 arcade classics that make up the remainder of the 80 games available.
For the most part, the traditional raster-display games, such as Centipede, are the most accurate representations of their original incarnations, and they feature accurate graphics and sounds that are very close to those of the originals.
Since these games originally used special monitors that produced graphics with rays of light rather than pixels, the versions of these games in Atari: 80 Classic Games in One are more of a simulation than anything else.

Atari 2600 History, System Specs, List, Scans
Atari gets the credit (and deservedly so), because it alone had the talent, perception and will to make the kind of games that converted non-players into enthusiastic participants.
In fact, Atari originally intended the VCS to last for no longer than one or two holiday selling seasons along with simple Pong-like games, that they handicapped the system with a paltry 128 bytes in order to keep the machine affordable for the few years that they would sell it.
By refusing to acknowledge the inevitable (the saturation of 2600 games) and moving on to greener pastures soon enough, Atari put the clamps on the long-term health of the entire industry.

Atari 2600 Games: Honorable Mention - Kaedrin Weblog
Dragonfire: Another game featuring dragons and castles (yeah, I was a sucker for these types of games), this one follows a more standard Atari formula.
Decent graphics and smooth animation make this game fun to play, though I'm convinced that my childhood opinion of this game was based mostly on the sound effects, particularly that of your weapons (and holding down the fire button allowed for some serious rapid-fire action).
Another interesting aspect of this game is the radar map at the bottom of the screen which gives you an overview of the level.

Games like Wolfenstein 3D, Doom and Rise of the Triad were all forerunners in the genre now known as the first person shooter.
