Please note that "names" refers to any name, which may be: people, places, cities, countries, angels, gods, mountains, etc. A name is a label for a thing, person, place, product (as in a brand name) and even an idea or concept, normally used to distinguish one from another.
This list of names for the Biblical nameless compiles names given in Jewish or Christian mythology for characters who are unnamed in the Bible itself.

It is helpful to most people to be able to understand the common words that arise from scientific names, and the table lists some of these; while the Latin names do not always correspond to the current English common names, they are often related, and if their meanings are understood they are easier to recall.
The list includes personal names only where their Latin form is markedly different from their English or other original language form, so that it might be difficult to guess the relationship.

Many translatable names are biblical, such as John, James, etc. Others were just extremely common among settlers, or were the names of Kings or other important figures.
These names are all derived from the Latin root natal meaning "birth." The implied meaning is "birth of Christ" (i.e., Christmas), and were originally given to babies born on or around Christmas.
In the USA, the name was first used by Virginia Dare, the first baby born in the New World, or in the colony of Virginia or something...my history is rusty.
