Buddhists retained power in parts of northern India, in Kaśmīr and especially in Bengal, where the Buddhist Pāla kings ruled from the 8th-12th centuries CE.
Here their influence, caste attitudes towards Buddhists, previous familiarity with Buddhism, lack of Buddhist political power or social structure along with Hinduism's revival movements such as Advaita and the rise of the syncretic bhakti movement, all contributed to a significant realignment of beliefs relegating Buddhism in India to the peripheries.

The 'Diary' idea I mentioned was an actual thread on B-net a few years ago, where different buddhists posted their daily dharma practice happenstances and the various stuff that came up as a result of whatever they did (or didn't do).
It was a very popular thread for awhile, and many of us would read it everyday to reinforce our own practice as well as inspire us to 'dare to try' or think about things we might not have, had it not been for that thread.

He stated that the BCM, along with Dhammasena of Aurangabad, Bhante Dhammanand of Sannathi and Dhammputra of Pune had toured the districts of Bidar and Gulbarga and had appealed to all the followers of Buddha and Dr Ambedkar to enlist their religion as Buddhists.
But when questioned that the Madigas, who form the major caste in the SC list, had not aspired to their reasoning of being enlisted as Buddhists, Mr Mogha stated that the Madigas were the followers of Jagjeevan Ram and not Buddha or Dr Ambedkar.
