The Solicitor General of Canada was a position in the Canadian ministry from 1892 to 2005.
The position was based on the Solicitor General in the British system and was originally designated as an officer to assist the Minister of Justice.
In 1966 when the modern position of Solicitor General was created with the repeal of the previous Solicitor General Act and the passage of a new statute creating the ministerial office of the Solicitor General of Canada.

The office of Solicitor General of Canada was created on June 23, 1887 but did not come into force until December 3, 1892.
The Solicitor General was designated an officer to assist the Minister of Justice and was not initially a position in the Canadian Cabinet though it was considered part of the Ministry.
While the position of Solicitor General was not a Cabinet position its occupant was often sworn into the Queen's Privy Council for Canada and attended Cabinet meetings.

Geofftech responded by removing the maps but posting a list of some other places where the maps could be found (and some links to mirror sites) till the solicitors dropped his ISP a note to say, “Hi!” at which point he got a note from them to say, “Take that page down too”.
No doubt his blog pages will be ripped from their rightful place soon so here’s a list of some of the places mentioned there where they are still available.
