Fyshwick ( postcode : 2609) is an industrial suburb of Canberra, located east of the South Canberra district.
One noteworthy portion of Fyshwick, located between the railway line and a major road called Canberra Avenue, was built as a German prisoner of war camp immediately after World War I ( 1918).
Soon after the government was using unemployed returned servicemen to help build Canberra, and in 1921 the camp was converted to house labourers to alleviate a severe housing shortage.

I couldn't view Canberra with the eyes of a tourist despite being a long-term resident, because I really wasn't one.
There's hundreds of suburbs, and by the time you'd gone round once, there'd be two dozen new suburbs to go to.
I'm not the first to do this - it seems that 666 ABC Canberra had a similar idea a few years ago, where they'd go to a suburb, describe it a bit, and talk to some locals.
