Spanish language - Encyclopedia, History, Geography and Biography
From the 16th century onwards, the language was brought to the Americas, Federated States of Micronesia, Guam, Marianas, Palau, and the Philippines by Spanish colonization.
It ceased to be an official language of the Philippines in 1987, and it is now spoken by less than 0.01% of the population, or 2,658 people (1990 Census), though probably an additional half a million Filipinos speak it as a second language.
The sole existing Spanish-Asiatic creole language, Chabacano or Zamboangueño (from Zamboanga), is spoken by an additional 0.4% of the Filipino population: 607,200 speakers (2000 census).

As a Slavic language Polish [język polski] is closely related to Kashubian, Czech, and Slovak with which it forms the Lechitic branch of West Slavonic.
In Lithuania the contact between the Lithuanian and the Polish language also resulted in the creation of the so-called po-prostemu (local language) that is perceived by the ‘locals’ neither as Polish, nor as Lithuanian.
In 1697 when the Sejm/Seimas enacted a bill of rights that resulted in changing the language of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania into Polish, the prestige of the Polish language (the language of the ‘small nobility’, the so-called szlachta) increased as opposed to Lithuanian as the language of the peasantry.

It is for this reason that Letzeburgesh is the compulsory and principal language for the 8 354 children in nursery schools (with the exception of a few private schools).

 andorra
I had been secretively told that they crossed the borders, carrying over the Pyrenees the oil and coffee that were still scarce commodities in Spain in the early 1950s.
At the time a country, a language meant nothing to me, a frontier even less, and I shall never know how I came to switch from French to Catalan at the age of four.
Emotions and thrills are set down in a universal language; in the great flurry that is the world, storms, winds and rivers, tales and stories, children and poets continue to disregard frontiers.

NEO-ROMANTICISM IN LANGUAGE PLANNING (Edo BERNASCONI)
According to Alphonse Matejka, as quoted by Alessandro Bausani, (10) the international auxiliary language should be a phenomenon and ideal of "higher civilizations," which the author opposes to the lower ones.
Tauli, a well-known specialist in planned languages (who is mainly interested in language planning in national languages), is not mild in his judgement of the languages of the Neo-Romantic school.
It is, then, clear that an ideally regular planned languages must, yes, use the roots of the international words for its vocabulary whenever this is possible, and this will certainly increase its power of expression and facilitate its learning, but it must absolutely not copy the derivational irregularities of the international words.
