The Catalan failure to secede from Philip V's monarchy culminated in the surrender of Barcelona on September 11, 1714, which came to be commemorated as Catalonia's National day.

 Catalan people
The Catalans are an ethnic group or nation concentrated in Spain's autonomous community of Catalonia, as well as other adjacent and nearby Mediterranean areas including Andorra, Land of Valencia, the Balearic Islands, and Catalunya Nord in France.
The Catalans, though somewhat related to the larger group of Spanish people and to Occitans, are in many ways a group unto themselves with qualities that make them something of a transitional group.

 [#DACCO-1348] càrtel - jira.codehaus.org
However, I found that although over 500 Catalan websites, including Avui, the Generalitat, la Caixa, various political parties (y un largo etcetera) use the word with the accent over the letter 'a', when I searched for it in the GDLC, I found that it is given without one.
I'd be interested to know which spelling the Catalans on the list think is most common and how they would write the word.
It's curious to note that the trochaic stress pattern of "càrtel" is a hyper-Anglicism, since the word in fact has iambic stress in English, as it has in French and German.

There was some discussion about the meaning of 'estar als llimbs' on the mailing list.
For now, based on the results of Jonathan's Google searches and Margarita's understanding of the expression, I have put it in the dictionary as 'to be in limbo'.
If any of the Catalans on the list is familiar with 'estar als llimbs' meaning 'no estar gens informat tocant a una questió, ignorar notícies conegudes de tothom, etc.' and thinks an English equivalent for this meaning should be added to the dictionary, you only have to say and it will be done.
