 rediff.com: Congress releases first list of candidates for Gujarat poll
Although BJP general secretary Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi had earlier said that the party list would be released on November 16, Gujarat Chief Minister Narendra Modi had the announcement postponed reportedly to ensure that his followers are given their due share.
Former state chief minister and senior Congress leader Shankersinh Vaghela said the BJP was a 'divided house' claiming that 'even Gujarat ministers and MPs are running away from the seats allotted to them'.
Party general secretary Kamal Nath, in charge of Gujarat, said the second and final list would be released later for 'strategic electoral reasons'.

The 19 leaders who have been asked to reach Delhi include ministers and senior BJP leaders of Gujarat and they are a mix of Keshubhai Patel loyalists, Narendra Modi followers, Kashiram Rana supporters and Suresh Mehta’s advocates.
What began as an intra-party bickering has now assumed serious gravity and chief minister Keshubhai Patel who flew down to Delhi on Sunday morning has been holding ceaseless meetings with different set of leaders trying to explain his position on BJP’s by election debacle and his role in Gujarat politics.
Sanjay Joshi has not been much in favour of Keshubhai Patel in the last few days but according to sources he definitely prefers Keshubhai to the arrogant and autocratic Narendra Modi.
