NationMaster - Encyclopedia: List of Entertaining Comics publications
EC Comics was a major publisher of comic books in the 1940s and 1950s.
Entertaining Comics was headed by William Gaines but is better known by its publishing name of EC Comics.
After the comic book industry imploded during the 1950s in the wake of the hysteria caused by Dr. Fredric Wertham 's book Seduction of the Innocent (and, just as important, a shakeup in the distribution companies who sold comic books and pulp magazines in America), most of EC Comics' titles were cancelled.

William Gaines - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Bill Gaines was the son of Max Gaines, publisher of the All-American Comics division of DC Comics and also an influential figure in the history of comics, having tested the idea of selling comics on newsstands, inspiring the creation of Wonder Woman among other achievements.
His horror comics were not simply compilations of horrifying visuals, but subtle, satiric approaches to horror with genuine dilemmas and startling outcomes, along with horrifying visual graphics, to be sure, often with stories drawn from classic authors, such as Edgar Allan Poe and H.
Gaines's comics may have appealed to adults, but comic books were considered by the general public to be aimed at children.

[The Gay Comics List ~ Chelsea Boys]
There's a time-honored tradition in fiction of gathering extremely different characters in one place, and see what happens when they spend some time together and learn to know each other.
As with the characters themselves, the depictions of their relationships, short-lived or not, blend sometimes coarse humor with insight about the difficulties of finding someone and then holding onto him.
Chelsea Boys, with its rich art and varied characters, is an entertaining but thoughtful strip which cleverly masquerades as a sexy romp among the modern urban gays.
