Family Guy - Encyclopedia, History, Geography and Biography
Family Guy's brand of humor is notable for the usually brief, frequently nonsensical cutaways (usually featuring oddball pop culture references) and flashbacks to various points in history, geography, and reality involving the characters and their ludicrous actions (see "Structure and comedic approach" below).
Family Guy has been panned by certain television critics, most notably from Entertainment Weekly[2], which was in turn attacked by MacFarlane during a scene in the straight-to-DVD movie Stewie Griffin: The Untold Story.
Of course, the nuclear family is a sitcom staple, as are boorish father/husband figures, and the children in the Griffin family are vastly different in terms of personality from their Simpsons counterparts.

Family Guy s brand of humor is notable for the usually brief, frequently nonsensical cutaways and flashbacks to various points in history, geography, and reality involving the characters and their ludicrous actions (see Structure and comedic approach below).
Family Guy does not have an especially large cast of recurring minor characters (though this has changed in season 4, with many one-shot characters from prior episodes making appearances in new episodes) and most of the episode plotlines center chiefly around the exploits of the Griffin family.
But there are also cases of episodes making changes to continuity that are upheld and even elaborated on in later episodes, such as Peter s occupation being shifted from a toy factory assembly line worker to a fisherman, to a lowly worker at a beer factory, and the breakup of secondary characters Cleveland and Loretta.

Some guys will confess that the two things likeliest to be on their computers are porn and "Family Guy" episodes.
In addition to divulging plans for "Family Guy," MacFarlane was able to offer a peek at "American Dad." Like the former, the latter will concentrate on a nuclear family, but with a more political spin.
The lines between the "Family Guy" and the "American Dad" will be pretty distinct — but don't be surprised if the Griffins pay a visit to their new neighbors.

The Family Guy First Season DVD sold an amazing 2.2 million units, but profits from DVDs alone are not enough to fuel production of a major animated series, not even with the fees the show will receive from the Cartoon Network, which plans to start showing the new Family Guy episodes in early 2005.
The deciding factor behind the revival of the Family Guy was the possibility of off-net syndication, which typically requires that a series have at least 100 episodes (Fox produced 50 episodes in the show's first three seasons).

Peter Griffin yearns to be a champion dad for his family, but in his attempts he only winds up making a ridiculous fool of himself.
While he looks over his two teenagers and his baby (who has an English accent and is keen on dominating the world), it's abundantly clear that the family dog is the smartest member of the Griffin clan.
This collection contains 28 episodes of irreverent humor combining the satire of The Simpsons with the gross-out slapstick of South Park during the animated show's unfortunately short run.

What, exactly, Family Guy's premise is all about is rather obfuscated, but perhaps no more so than the average plot of an episode of the show.
Speaking of rehashes, Family Guy's gameplay is like a trip through a museum of generic genre exercises.
And while Family Guy fans will certainly dig the story on some level, the gameplay is such a weird mish-mash of overly simplistic and rage-inducing frustration that the laughs are quickly forgotten.

IGN: Family Guy On Fox In March?
October 12, 2004 - The Family Guy is getting closer and closer to fruition, and it looks like Fox will be the first-run network of choice.
When we first learned that the show was coming back, series creator Seth MacFarlane wasn't sure if the new episodes would initially air on Fox, or go straight to Cartoon Network, where the show found a new lease on life.
Well, MacFarlane appeared on the Dr. Drew Pinsky's Los Angeles radio show Loveline late last month and said that Fox would be the network, and it could begin airing the new episodes as early as March of 2005, or possibly May of 05.
