The coverage for each squadron comprises a concise narrative history, the squadron badge (if any), photos of representative aircraft in most instances, detailed tables of aircraft types flown with dates and examples, lists of commanding officers and lists of bases including detachments of all sizes.
By reference to these lists and the accompanying general explanation, in conjunction with the information given for each squadron, it should be possible to identify the unit of most naval aircraft bearing a full side marking.

Squadrons were still being formed after VE Day because the war with Japan continued, with no sign of when it might end.
