Forgotten Realms - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Forgotten Realms were originally designed by Ed Greenwood as his own personal adventure campaign, from which he began publishing a series of short articles detailing the setting in Dragon magazine.
The first fully official Forgotten Realms Campaign Set (often referred to as 'the old grey box' or just 'grey box') was later released in 1987 as a boxed set of two source books and four large maps, designed by Greenwood in collaboration with author Jeff Grubb.
Much of the history of the The Realms detailed in novels and source books is concerned with the actions of various deities or The Chosen, mortal representatives with a portion of their deities' power, such as Elminster and the Seven Sisters.

Alan Moore - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
It was with the limited series Watchmen, begun in 1986 and collected as a graphic novel in 1987, that he cemented his reputation.
Unusually, the series would highlight many obscure and forgotten DC characters by putting them in important roles, and the lead character would be John Constantine, whose interaction with the superheroes of the DC Universe had been rather minor.
This self-dubbed pornographic graphic novel depicts the sexual adventures of three important female fictional characters of the late 19th and early 20th Century, namely Alice from Alice's Adventures in Wonderland, Dorothy Gale from The Wizard of Oz, and Wendy Darling from Peter Pan.

Forgotten Realms: Dark Elf Trilogy - Homeland #1 » PopCultureShock
The Forgotten Realms setting is my favorite, a richly imagined world full of magic, monsters and a multifaceted history, and most of its supplements are actually better reads than the numerous novels and comics based on it that have been published over the years.
Having recently reread some of the original Forgotten Realms comics published by DC back in 1989 [Trivia Note: Rags Morales' first regular gig as a comic book artist!], I was quite skeptical when Devil's Due announced they'd secured the D&D license from Hasbro a while back.
