		Early in the 13th century Normandy was absorbed by the French crown, and later in the 13th century two more of the lay peerages were absorbed by the crown, so that in 1297 three new peerages were created (Artois, Anjou and Bretagne) to compensate for the three peerages that had disappeared.
		The French peerage was abolished during the French Revolution on the night of August 4, 1789, the Night of the Abolition of Feudalism.
		The French peerage was recreated in 1814 at the Restoration of monarchy, albeit on a different basis than before 1789.

		This territorial requirement was formalized for peerages by an edict of March 1582, which required a minimum income of 24,000 livres from the estates that were to form the basis for the peerage.

		Since each of my GM databases begins with a complete chronological listing of the attributions contained therein (followed by an alphabetical synopsis by contributor as a cross reference), the first task was to convert an alphabetical arrangement of all of the attributions in Kuist's volume into a strictly chronological listing.
		Each item in the Chronological Listing contains the volume number, year, and page number followed by the item in question, the author's name (listed in bold type for ease of viewing), the source of or authority for the attribution, and the original signature appended to the item (if there is one).
		Separate listing of contributors should not, however, preclude the possibility that the contributions in question are by one and the same person.

		At the heart of the allegations that the Labour government in Britain granted peerages in return for cash is a bigger scandal—how the public sector is being plundered by the government and big business through privatisation and deregulation.
		In March it was revealed that several businessmen nominated for peerages in the House of Lords had loaned the Labour Party large sums of money in the run-up to the 2005 general election—thereby bypassing the requirement that political donations of £5,000 ($9,200) or more be officially declared.
