		In the 1970s and 1980s, GM pushed Diesel engines and cylinder deactivation technologies to disastrous results due to poor durability in the Oldsmobile diesels (this was a modified gasoline engine) and drivability issues in the Cadillac 4-6-8 variable cylinder engines.
		GM was also an early innovator in hybrid vehicle development, building Diesel-electric trains since the 1930s and buses since the 1990s (but without stored energy recovery), but did not introduce a true hybrid passenger car until 2004.
		GM has hinted at new hybrid technologies to be employed that will be optimized for higher speeds such as are encountered in freeway driving.

		In 1967 this was a list of numbered option groups (when options were present, and continued on to a second line, if necessary, depending on the options) where each character represented a body-related option that required some action on the part of Fisher Body to alter the "baseline" configuration.
		The internal GM convention for date-coding parts used two formats; both started with the letter "A" for January and progressed through the alphabet ("B" for February, "C" for March, etc.), but the month-dating convention changed when it came to usage of the letter "I" between cast-in (casting) dates and dates that were stamped on parts.
		These codes appear to have been included here for 1968 either in preparation for a proposed release that never occurred, or as part of a subterfuge for convincing racing authorities that the 4WD brakes were a factory option and thus should be available for racing use.

		GM of Canada has documentation only on cars sold in Canada.

	Transmission Identification & Decoding
		On the THM350, the VIN will be stamped on either the drivers side housing near the shifter, on the right side of the housing just above the pan, or on a boss behind the bellhousing flange on the passenger side of the transmission.
		On the THM200-R4 the VIN is stamped onto the housing towards the rear of the pan, on the drivers side.
		On the THM700-R4 the VIN is either stamped onto a boss behind the bellhousing flange on the passenger side, just above the pan on the drivers side, or just behind the governor cover, stamped vertically where the case meets the tailshaft housing.

		GM recently unveiled its Northstar XV12 concept engine that is physically about the same size as the existing V8 but is capable of producing up to 750 horsepower!
		In model year 2000, GM began using a new high pressure "squeeze" casting process for the lower crankcase to reduce porosity in the aluminum, which may allow oil to seep through and leak (this has been a problem on some engines).
		However, GM does say the oil should be changed at least once a year regardless of mileage.

		The color tag on the vehicle that has the color code such us NH623M, also has a letter in the lower right corner has a factory code such as A. For example, NH623M and NH623M-A is not a same.
		Example; if your code in your door jam is R517P and your VIN 11th digit is C, your actual color code is R517P-C. Look up your color on our web site and you should see the correct code for your vehicle.
		If you do not see your factory code from the color tag, you need to look at the 11th digit of your VIN which is located on the drivers side dashboard.

		The VIN is usually not stamped in the pad, but occasionally is in a very rough manner, often misaligned and irregular depth, due to being handstamped at the dealer, if at all.
		GM left breaker point distributors in 1975 and began using the HEI distributor which features a higher voltage coil and a magnetic breakerless system.
		A partial VIN is stamped into the engine pad on the front of the engine and into the frame in two places so that a car can be idenitfied if stolen.
