There's no denying the role cultural and other influences play in whether we connect with a language and find it beautiful or not, but there seems to me to exist a quality in languages that goes well beyond their syntax and semantics.
So, do we mean ‘which language has the potential of being set to music in the most desirable way’, or ‘which language has the most fluctuations in its intonation patterns’ (something that makes it closer to being music by itself), or perhaps ‘which language has the richest, and consequently the most enjoyable, literature’?
The language of the great Ferdowsi, Hafiz, Saadi, Rumi, Nezami, Attar, Khayyam and a very long list of poets each of which is enough to keep a language alive for all eternity.
