For Series 7, Episode 8, in 1994, it was announced that the tub of lard would be making a return appearance, though this turned out to be a ruse to disguise the appearance on the show of Salman Rushdie, who almost didn't get to be on the show.
The 22 April 2005 episode, after the election of the new pope, featured Merton repeatedly talking about him having "the eyes of a killer", under the pretense that if he said it often enough the editors would have to include it at some point (which they did, many times over).
On one episode, the panelists were discussing the new James Bond film Die Another Day and the fact that there was an invisible car in it.

In one episode, for example, Tobias says he was an analyst and a therapist, making him the first "analrapist." Other episodes have delved into the bizarre sexual proclivities of the main characters, such as Lucille's revelation that she and George derive sexual pleasure from being strangled with a belt.

Ratings for the Aquaman episode of Smallville were good, which doesn't really surprise me. The 'net reaction seems to have been mixed, with a lot of people mentioning the poor acting and cheesy dialogue, while still enjoying the show.
This one got an unprecedented 20 out of 10 as a rating in Fortean Times, and while I wouldn't give it quite that much, it is a great book, and made all the moreso because it happens to be completely true.
A guy using a non-standard browser for making a donation got in trouble, and he's been found guilty because he tried to figure out why it wouldn't accept his donation by putting in some backslashes and dots to see if the site was a scam.

The New York Times has a new article about a Kubrick memorabilia exhibit now showing in Germany in which it is reported why Kubrick decided to cancel his Holocaust project in the light of Spielberg’s famous film.
As for the list, it, as always, is certainly extremely debatable (Superman at #26 out of 50--give me a break!), but at least it'll get movie fans talking and reminiscing about some of their favorite films.

 08/17/2004: "Father of the Pride images and review"
A representative from Animated News was recently invited to DreamWorks Feature Animation in Glendale last Friday and got to see two episodes of their upcoming CGI-animated television series Father of the Pride.
-like but we were told that the pilot episode (the one about the lions trying to get two pandas to mate) is probably the raunchiest out of all 13 episodes they have done so far.
The second episode we saw had some very funny moments focused on a rivalry between Siegfried and NBC's Matt Lauer and a very funny line by Roy at the climax of the episode.

All that I got from the previews and it intrigued me, but I expected whatever resolution to be weak and I wasn't disappointed.
Somehow the young man has got to tell this dead woman that he doesn't want to be married to her, that their differences are too great (she's dead, he's alive).

My new blog friend the lovely and talented writer and photographer Hadas and I had lunch in (where else?) The Bloor West Village, because Hadas had never experienced the Village before, in all its glory.
We ate delicious souvlaki at this new Mediterranean restaurant, then had yummy creme caramel and cappuccino at The Sweet Gallery (though not without a bit of Sturm und Drang from the waitress!) Oh, and the photo of me was taken by Hadas, when we were in The Sweet Gallery.
It's a great honour to have an illustration in the final issue, and if you can, I urge you to buy a copy of their final issue to show support for a magazine that was intelligent, challenging, witty and utterly original.

And there are also people that care enough to leave 1,050 comments on an article about a season of a cancelled show that aired five years ago. And that’s exciting to me. It gave me a real charge to know that. I can understand that. I can agree with that.
Not that he really needs to though. As it stands, both shows work really well as opened and closed literary pieces. Both shows have perfect endings (Angel’s being somewhat immature maybe—because it was cancelled, the actual product being quite brilliant).
Buffy The Vampire Slayer is over. Angel is done with. Firefly feels like a passing dream. But Joss Whedon still stands. His shows are still looked upon fondly with fresh eyes and new dreams. “Buffy Lives” was the ad campaign UPN plastered everywhere at the start of season six.

ITN political correspondent John Sergeant is to host the next edition of Have I Got News for You.
Sergeant, whose ITN contract expires at the end of the year, has been tipped as a permanent replacement for Deayton.
