The IOC organises the Olympic Games: the Games of the Olympiad (Summer Olympic Games) are celebrated during the first year of an Olympiad, and the Olympic Winter Games during its third year.
Expulsion: an IOC member may be expelled by decision of the Session if such member has betrayed his oath or if the Session considers that such member has neglected or knowingly jeopardised the interests of the IOC or acted in a way which is unworthy of the IOC.
The IOC is now the largest single revenue source for the majority of IFs, with its contributions of Olympic broadcast revenue that assist the IFs in the development of their respective sports worldwide.

IOC provides contractors/excavators, homeowners, and others who may be disturbing the earth, with a single toll-free number to call for the locating and marking of these underground facilities.
IOC meetings and records are subject to the State’s open meetings and records law.
A joint meet locate in Iowa will activate a locate ticket and is designed to allow the excavator to meet with representatives of the underground facility operators to exchange information on a normal job that the excavator is unable to describe to the IOC operator.

During the Twentieth Session of the ICG/ITSU-XX held in Vina del Mar, Chile in October 2005, the ICG/ITSU was renamed as the “Intergovernmental Coordination Group for the Pacific Tsunami Warning and Mitigation System (ICG/PTWS)”.
The change was made to align its name with other tsunami warning and mitigation systems that are being newly established as governing bodies under the auspices of the UNESCO Intergovernmental Oceanographic Commission (IOC).
