The Irish (in countries other than Ireland)
Who were the first Irish to land on the American continent and the time of their arrival are perhaps matters of conjecture rather than of historical proof; but that the Irish were there almost at the beginning of the colonial era is a fact support by historical records.
Irish names, however, are met with occasionally in the documents relating to these settlements; it is certain that there were Irish Catholics in the Virginia Colony prior to 1633.
While men of the Irish race were engaged on the battlefield in defence of their adopted country, accompanied and encouraged by the clergy, the religious orders of women within the Church were no less diligent in nursing the sick and wounded in camps and hospitals.

A Bibliography of Secondary Literature on Anthony Trollope's Irish Novels, La Vendée and Essays on Ireland
For Trollope the reader will find the instalment and volumed publication of 34 of his novels in their instalment and earliest volumed forms from Framley Parsonage through to The Landleaguers, including all novellas that were serialised.
For the Irish novels, beyond The Landleaguers, Vann includes only An Eye for An Eye because The Macdermots, The Kellys and O'Kellys, and Castle Richmond were not serialised.
I include La Vendee on this list as although it is a singleton, Trollope's only historical novel (and thus also listed under "Novels in General"), it is metaphorically about Ireland as the French counter-revolution was often used in Trollope's day as a way of talking about Ireland in the 1830s and 1840s.
