It is mostly sedimentary rocks, with east Texas underlain by a Cretaceous and younger sequence of sediments, the trace of ancient shorelines east and south until the active continental margin of the Gulf of Mexico is met.
Texas is known for its love of American football and is noted for the intensity with which people follow high school and college football teams—often times dominating over all else for the purposes of socalizing and leisure.

The Lieutenant Governor of Texas is the second-highest executive office in the government of Texas, a state in the United States of America.
The Lieutenant Governor is elected separately from the Governor, rather than on the same ticket; it is therefore possible for the Governor and Lieutenant Governor to be from different political parties (which was the case during Governor George W. Bush's first term).
Under the provisions of the Texas constitution, the Lieutenant Governor is President of the Texas Senate.
