There are number of emulators on the market that can be used to try a LiveCD without the need to burn it to a CD or boot it on the computer.

The article should be moved to Linx LiveCD's and a new one written though.
Looking at the shortened list left in the main article, though, it occurs to me that what is most interesting about LiveCDs is the purposes they have been specialized for.

The Frozentech's list of livecds are automactly sorted by votes gived by livecdforum's users, and we proud to see GoblinX in fifth place already voted thirty times.
Save some space is one of most important goal for any livecd which needs to be as small as possible, and one step to make it smaller is deleting some non usable parts of software.

Skip Evans sent me a link for a page that presents a long list of LiveCDs — CD-ROMs that your computer can boot from (if your computer can boot from CD-ROM, a fairly common capability for machine manufactured from the mid-1990s onward).
There are venerable LiveCDs, including Knoppix that boots a Debian Linux OS, and FreeSBIE that boots to FreeBSD 5.3.
But there are a plethora of other LiveCDs listed, ranging from 2MB boot images to rescue CDs to firewalls to servers and pure gaming CDs.

The early versions of the Linuxcare BBC were collections of packages that had been precompiled for other distributions (such as Debian and Red Hat from which subsets of files were copied into the directory from which the BBC was "mastered" (the ISO 9660 CD disc images were built).
The versions 0.xx were for kernel 2.2; versions 1.xx are for kernel 2.4; versions 2.xx are for kernel 2.6.
It is used by Knoppix and other LiveCDs to fit approximately up to 2 GB on a 700 MB CD.
