A mountain is usually produced by the movement of lithospheric plates, either orogenic movement or epeirogenic movement.
Mountains are not generally favored for human habitation; the weather is harsher, less food is available, and there is little level ground suitable for farming.
Most mountains of the world have been left in their natural state, and are today primarily used for recreation.

Sacred Mountains of China   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-08)
Another reason for the sanctification of particular mountains are the legends and myths of both shamanism and early Taoism.
These legends speak of sages and mystics, often called 'immortals', who lived deep in the mountain wilderness, existed on diets of rare herbs and exotic elixers, and lived to be 400 to 800 years old.
The mountain areas where these sages dwelled came to be regarded as sacred places, as access points to the heavenly realm, and also as the abodes of magical spirits and powerful deities (in the Chinese context a sacred mountain can mean a single peak, a cluster of hills, or a whole mountain range).

There's are several lists of cities and available loads in the middle, which are set up so that you can cut them out to produce four quick reference sheets, which is nice.
Lunar Rails' one new mechanism, regarding the spherical board, is pretty cool, but as the 8th iteration of this core mechanic I can only award it a "3" out of "5" for Substance--a rating for the mechanisms of the game without considering their former originality.

 LUNAR ASTROTOPONIMY
The surface of the Moon has several features such as craters, valleys, mountains, etc., that are also found in other planets and satellites of the solar system. But the fact that makes the Moon unique among other celestial bodies are its lava plains called Maria (singular:mare, sea), Oceanus (ocean), Sinus (bays), and Palus (marshes).
These lunar seas, bays and marshes are named mainly after different states of mind that cover a huge repertory of human emotions, for instance, the Sea of Serenity, the Lake of Hatred, the Bay of Love, the Marsh of Sleep, and so on.
So when the astronomers began to label these geological features they were just under the power of a synchronicity that took millions of years to take shape...So now it's time that modern astrologers begin to interpret them as part of their astrological resources, ever getting multiplied and sophisticated.
