Massively Multiplayer Online Game - WoWWiki
A massively multiplayer online game (MMOG) is a type of computer game that enables hundreds or thousands of players to simultaneously interact in a game world they are connected to via the Internet.
MMOGs create a persistent universe where the game continues playing regardless of whether or not anyone else is. Since these games strongly or exclusively emphasize multiplayer gameplay, few of them have any significant single-player aspects or client-side artificial intelligence.
MMOGs often feature in-game support for clans and guilds, such as the ability to manage an association with in-game tools.

AI-controlled characters are not as common in action-based MMOGs.
To support all those players, MMOG's need large-scale game worlds, and servers to connect players to those worlds.
In contrast to traditional MMOGs, MMCAPs place an emphasis on creative collaboration.

Without entities, games would be endless expanses of nothing, so when we decided to begin releasing more detailed system overviews, we knew we had to start with the lifeblood of the game: the characters who populate the world of Ershela.
This non-exhaustive list will be progressively completed by novelties as the adventures and other quests advance.
A world struggling to emerge from the collapse of civilization… a global collapse brought on by a century and a half of war and plague, environmental disaster and the final death-throes of civilization.

pseudorandom: The Coming Glut of MMOGs
According to an article in Salon, there's a glut coming in MMOGs (massively multiplayer online games) and their siblings MMORPGs (massively multiplayer online role-playing games): If they don't, it won't be for lack of trying.
As has been established, I'm something of a geek myself, and will admit to my interest in science fiction (though I'm more selective now than I once was) and medieval history (though I haven't bought a book on the topic in at least five years).
I can imagine myself playing an MMOG if I had the time, but between starting a company, playing with my kids, and blogging, my days are pretty much spoken for.

GameSpy.com - Article: Weekly Worlds News: Volume 1
Given my definition of an MMOG, I won't be covering developments for games that are primarily offline games -- for instance, Half-Life: Counter Strike is one of the most popular online games around, but it's not an MMOG.
MMOGs are games in which the entire world (or universe) is your oyster -- not just a run through a set of missions on a remote server.
Featured MMOG: Instead of a rambling intro like the one you're reading now, this section will include a featured game of the week, which will include a fairly detailed look at a MMOG you can (and should) check out.

Terra Nova: But is it play?
Maybe MMOGs are a special case of play and have led me to see games as much more messy than if I'd come at it from other genres (though to be honest, I doubt it).
However, what I do find fascinating about MMOGs is that they have a very inexpensive access cost and a very consistent experience regardless of the most of the participants demographics.
The Magic Circle is not a stable place of isolation; in fact, it is the breeches between the game and the world that orients their relationship to one another.

If you want a list of mmogs, i can tell you that there already are plenty, so that's why i feel they shouldn't be part of this list.
I think they probably shouldn't be listed, or if they are, just not as detalied, in a special section called "Games with bot support" or something.
What i want the list to say about the story-type(it's a bad name, i know) is wether you play the same as in single-player or if the coop maps are unique, like it seems ghost recon 3 is.

 The Sundered Guard
As the list of MMOGs available to play grows greatly, the chances that everyone in the guild will want to play the same game will drop.
Rather than having family members with years of history together depart simply because of differences in gaming choices, they will be able to generate interest enough to start a Chapter for their choice of game, allowing them to still adventure with their family members.
When a full member (a Pathfinder) of The Sundered Guard Proper becomes interested in an MMOG, and wishes to generate interest for that game, they will make a request to the Elders that an 'Interest Forum' be created.

 All About Multiplayer PC Gaming
MMOGs (Massively Multiplayer Online Games) and MMORPGs (Massively Multiplayer Online Role-Playing Games) hit the scene and gamers quickly adapted to the concept of purchasing a game and then paying monthly for a subscription to keep playing the game.
MMOGs are truly massive and allow thousands of gamers to join the game world and simultaneously interact in that game.
You can also create a buddy list within the game service which will notify you when a friend logs on and what game room they are playing in so you can easily join them.

The game is on the "free to play" list of MMOGs, with in-game cash won through playing but ultimately you can add cash to your account by removing cash from your wallet.
Upgrades to your character's wardrobe and equipment, as well as course fees and tournament entry fees will eventually start to drain your character's bank account.

I'm curious as to how some of this information is gathered and how accurate it is. I was under the impression some games don't release exact figures to the public (AO, my current game of choice, does not).
That graph has been around for quite a while now,and I suppose it may be of some interest to some of the people around these games, but, I think it is of very little actual importance as regards ac2,at least for the time being,as long as Turbine choose's to support it.
Yes, these graphs need to be read with a grain of salt, and the numbers can be off no matter where the information comes from.
