For his achievements, Dr. Chaudhari has been honored with a number of awards, including the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers, Inc., Morris N. Liebmann Memorial Award (1992), the Massachusetts Institute of Technology Harry C. Gatos Distinguished Lecture and Prize (1994), and the National Medal of Technology (1995).
Previously, he served on the faculty of Michigan State University, Pennsylvania State University, and Boston College, where he was the Anita L. Brennan Professor of Education and Director of the Center for Child, Family, and Community Partnerships.
In 1995 she and her husband, Stuart C. Irby, Jr., created the Soli Deo Gloria Foundation, a private foundation serving to promote and implement the John Templeton Foundation’s Laws of Life Essay Contest in Mississippi, to further prison reform, and to encourage bicycling as a secondary means of transportation.

 John Harbison
Following completion of a junior fellowship at Harvard, Harbison joined the faculty at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where, in 1984, he was named Class of 1949 Professor of Music, in 1994, Killian Award Lecturer in recognition of "extraordinary professional accomplishments;" and in 1995 named Institute Professor.
Recent premieres include Symphony No. 4 for the Seattle Symphony, a Piano Trio for the Amelia Trio, and the motet Abraham, commissioned for the Papal Concert of Reconciliation in Rome in 2004, which was held in the presence of Pope John Paul II and televised internationally.
Also premiering this season are Canonical American Songbook for the Albany Symphony, three motets for the Cantata Singers of Boston, and chamber works for cello and piano, horn quartet, and percussion ensemble.

 Harvard University
Harvard has a friendly rivalry with the Massachusetts Institute of Technology which dates back to 1900, when a merger of the two schools was frequently mooted and at one point officially agreed upon (ultimately canceled by Massachusetts courts).
The House system was instituted by Harvard president Abbott Lawrence Lowell in the 1930s, although the number of Houses, their demographics, and the methods by which students are assigned to particular Houses have all changed drastically since the founding of the system.
Each House is presided over by a "Master"—a senior faculty member who is responsible for guiding the social life and community of the House—and a "Senior Tutor", who acts as dean of the students in the House in its administrative role.

 Thomas Warfield, Betty Meyer are Parade grand marshals - Local - The Empty Closet
Thomas Warfield is the founder and artistic director of PeaceArt International, and director of dance and faculty member at the National Technical Institute for the Deaf at the Rochester Institute of Technology where he also serves on the President’s Commission on Pluralism.
He is associate director of Kaleidoscope Dance Theatre at the New York Institute of Dance, and for 10 years has been vocal soloist at both Unity Church in Rochester and the Chilmark Community Church on Martha’s Vineyard in Massachusetts.

 World Rankings
The top three universities in the world, according to the report, are Harvard, Massachusetts Institute of Technology and Cambridge.
To determine rankings, the Times surveyed 2,375 academics worldwide on their selections of top universities and programs and combined the results with such factors as the number of times published research papers were cited by colleagues, staff-to-student ratios and the number of students and faculty recruited from overseas.
While this year's rankings were arrived at using a similar methodology as in 2004, improvements include a bigger poll of academics, more complete statistics and the addition to the survey of global employment recruiters.
