  Little Minnesota River - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Little Minnesota River is a headwaters tributary of the Minnesota River in northeastern South Dakota and west-central Minnesota in the United States.
Near the Minnesota state line, it passes within a mile of Lake Traverse, part of the Hudson Bay watershed, from which it is separated by a low continental divide.
The river enters Minnesota at the town of Browns Valley and shortly enters Big Stone Lake, which is drained by the Minnesota River.

 Colorado River tops 2004 list of endangered rivers
The river wanders 1,500 miles from the peaks of the Rocky Mountains in Colorado, snaking across Utah, Arizona, Nevada and California before flowing into the Gulf of Baja in Mexico, although in most years it is little more than a trickle when it reaches its delta.
The Big Sunflower River in Mississippi, which was the most endangered river last year because of an Army Corps of Engineers pumping and dredging project that the group said would destroy wetlands and stir up toxins in the river bed, was No. 2 on the group's list.
American Rivers, a Washington-based nonprofit conservation group, says the rivers on the list are not necessarily the ones with the worst chronic problems, but those they say are most in peril because of toxic chemicals, severe water shortages and other problems.

 Red River New Mexico
In the United States it is called the Red River of the North, to distinguish it from another Red River (a tributary of the Mississippi River that forms part of the border between Texas and Oklahoma).
It is formed at Wahpeton, North Dakota and Breckenridge, Minnesota by the confluence of the Bois de Sioux and Otter Rail rivers.
That province's capital, Winnipeg, is at its confluence with the Assiniboine River.

The Pig's Eye Landfill is listed on the Minnesota Pollution Control Agency's (MPCA) Permanent List of Priorities — the state's Superfund list.
It is bordered by the CP Railroad yard to the north and east, and by the main Twin Cities Municipal Waste-Water Treatment Facility and Pig's Eye Lake to the south.
While there is no evidence that fish in Pig's Eye Lake or the Mississippi River are contaminated by the dump, MDH lists parts of the Mississippi River — including the section from the Ford Dam to Red Wing — in its fish consumption advisory.

The Minnesota Bird List includes 430 species; of those species 312 commonly nest, winter or are seen in Minnesota; 35 of those birds are considered casual, and 80 are considered accidental.

American Rivers, a Washington D.C.-based environmental organization, named the Hudson River No. 4 on its annual list of rivers facing the most immediate and severe environmental threats.
The Hudson River flows through 315 miles of mountains, forests, wetlands, and towns before reaching New York City and the Atlantic Ocean.
According to the EPA, GE discharged an estimated 1.3 million pounds of polychlorinated biphenyls (PCBs) from electric capacitor manufacturing plants at Hudson Falls and Fort Edward in the upper Hudson from 1947 to 1977.

The Otter Tail River was added to the list of Minnesota rivers eligible for the funding because of their historic and scenic value.
Once used for transporting logs, the Otter Tail River, which joins many lakes throughout the area, is now used for recreational purposes.
The provision was passed by both the Senate and the House as part of the supplemental budget bill.

Three Southeast Missouri men were each sentenced to 90 days home confinement, three years probation and a combined fine of more than $18,000 for illegal commercial fishing and taking an endangered species.
