 Culture Mongolia - Khovsgol
Situated in northern Mongolia, Khovsgol is the fourteenth largest freshwater lake in the world and the second largest in Central Asia by volume, with over 1% of the world's freshwater, and a maximum depth of 262 metres.
In addition, two areas of the taiga to the west of the lake are inhabited by the Tsaatan ("Reindeer People"), a tiny ethnic group of Turkic origin related to the Tuvans, who have retained an ancient and unusual culture based on forest-based reindeer-herding and hunting.
The Tsaatan are one of the few remaining reindeer-herding peoples of North Asia who have retained their nomadic traditions with a considerable degree of authenticity, and who continue to practise shamanist rituals.

Early market-oriented reforms, including establishment of an open trade regime, significantly helped the transition of Mongolia from a centrally planned economy until 1991 to a market-based economy, currently enjoying stable economic growth and moderate inflation, according to a WTO Secretariat report on the trade policies and practices of Mongolia.
Although the report stresses that the structural reform process remains to be completed, Mongolia’s economy is currently on a recovery path and the progress in economic and political reform, like farm privatization and price deregulation, financial sector liberalization and privatization of state entities, has been impressive.
The report also notes the need to diversify Mongolia’s industrial structure into manufacturing and services and says that the policy efforts to ensure macroeconomic stability and to implement structural and other economic reforms needed for sustainable growth would be of great importance to Mongolia’s long-term growth prospects.

The most important sacred mountains are worshipped every several years in large-scale ceremonies, but even minor mountains are worshipped by locals on a regular basis.
The three mountains described here all represent sacred properties first identified by Chinggis Khaan in the 13th century, protected by the laws of "Khalkh Juram" which were in place between 1709 and 1799.
They are the most important of the 16 sacred mountains of Mongolia protected by tradition, common law and royal decree.

The language[s] in Mongolia and Southern Mongolia are virtually the same: Mongolian is spoken in Mongolia and Southern Mongolia, but it is spoken in its Xalx (Khalkha) form in Mongolia but spoken in its Chahar (Cahar) dialect form in Southern (Inner) Mongolia.
Southern Mongolia keeps using the Classical Mongolian writing (which is very conservative, also for the grammatical endings of verbs etc.) while in Mongolia in the 1940s an extended Cyrillic alphabet was introduced.
