This was also the first New Brunswick provincial election contested by the New Democratic Party, though they did not win any seats.

The Glynn County Board of Elections began holding sessions Tuesday to familiarize poll workers with its new ExpressPoll system that will be used to identify voters when they arrive at polling places on Election Day.
The systems will be used for the first time in the July 18 partisan primary elections, when voters will decide four of the seven available school board seats and three county commission races in the Republican primary – contests where no Democratic opposition will await the winner.
Instead of searching for names on a printed list of the county's 38,000 registered voters when voters arrive at their polling locations, poll workers will use a touch screen to electronically search the database.
