 Ontario Provincial Highways Home Page
The provincial highway system in Ontario has undergone the most significant changes since 1937, when the Department of Northern Development (responsible for the construction and maintenance of roads in Northern Ontario) was merged with the Department of Highways (now Ministry of Transportation).
Other minor routes which formerly ran parallel with more major provincial highways have been moved onto the major route, as was the case with, for example, Hwy 12 and Hwy 400 in Simcoe County, and Hwy 24 and Hwy 403 in Brant County.
Now that a single former provincial highway may have a dozen county/regional road numbers, travellers and tourists are just some of the people who will become quite confused at the multitude of route numbers, most of which do not appear on their highway maps.

This may be the same Dickson family that the KOLLOCKs married with in New Brunswick." Maj. Thomas Dickson was a soldier during the wars with the French and later was involved in the Eddy rebellion.
The list of New Brunswick Loyalists includes three Kollocks: Jacob, Joseph, and Simon, from Delaware; Simon a Captain in the Loyal American Regiment, Jacob and Joseph volunteers in the same.

One of the basic functions of a civil parish in New Brunswick was to be a district for the appointment of local civil officials.
Several new positions were added to the list of parish officers in 1854.
Under the new act, there were no elections for parish officers; instead, the County Council was to annually appoint officers for each parish.

The first place we visit upon arriving in New Brunswick is the quaint little town of Bouctouche, a very popular tourist destination.
