New York City is home to more than 27,000 acres of park land, including over 1500 parks and playgrounds, 700 playing fields, 500 tennis courts, 33 outdoor swimming pools, 10 indoor swimming pools, 33 recreation and senior centers, 15 miles of beaches, 13 golf courses, 6 ice rinks, 4 major stadiums, and 4 zoos.
Parks range in size from Central Park in Manhattan and Prospect Park in Brooklyn (which are over 800 and 500 acres respectively) to small sitting areas with bench space for only 20 people.
This 16 acre park has been reclaimed from drug dealers and the homeless and is now a place for basketball, walking dogs and the normal activities of a park in the city.
