The 2003 Nova Scotia election was held on August 5, 2003 to elect members of the House of Assembly of the Province of Nova Scotia, Canada.
The election was called by Conservatives, who decided to hold a rare summer election in the hope of strengthening their hold on the legislature.
The election was considered a mild failure for the Liberals and Conservatives, and something of a success for the NDP.

Introduction   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-03)
The periodic register, or periodic list, of voters is the result of election administration authorities developing a new list of eligible voters prior to each election.
The election authority in Ontario was able to enumerate, or name one by one, almost six million electors in a four day period at the start of the last election campaign.
Furthermore, the election authority must evaluate the administrative capacity required either to initiate such contact with the electorate, as in a door-to-door enumeration, or to facilitate the contact from the eligible voter to the election authority, as in using a registration centre or registration by mail.

Governor General of Canada   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-03)
This arrangement continued after the establishment of the Dominion of Canada in 1867; the Governor General and Lieutenant Governors remained symbolic representatives of the Crown and of the British Government, while actual political power was vested in the Prime Minister of Canada and in the premiers, at the federal and provincial levels respectively.
If the Governor General dies or leaves the country for more than one month, the Chief Justice of Canada (or, if that position is vacant, the senior Puisne Justice of the Supreme Court of Canada) serves as Administrator of Canada, and exercises all powers of the Governor General.
While in office Governor General, as well as his or her spouse (the Viceregal Consort), is styled "His Excellency" or "Her Excellency." Moreover, Governors General are appointed to the Queen's Privy Council for Canada upon retirement (unless they are already members), and are entitled to the style "The Right Honourable" for life.

Historical Biographies, Nova Scotia: Charles Lawrence (1709-1760).
General Braddock met his death, after the French and their allies, in the wilds of Pennsylvania, defeated the English efforts to take Fort Duquesne (Pittsburgh).
The principal reason for this, I suppose, was that Lawrence, as the Governor of Nova Scotia, was to be a very busy man during the stirring military events which unfolded during The Seven Years War, one of which was the Capture of Louisbourg (1758).
The Nova Scotia Council, 1755, was made up of the following individuals: Benjamin Green, John Collier, William Cotterell, John Rous, and Jonathan Belcher.

County   (Site not responding. Last check: 2007-10-03)
While New South Wales was divided into counties in the early days of the colony, often preceding European settlement, hundreds, parishes and counties became dead letters for most purposes other that the registration of land ownership, which under the Torrens title system, is centralised in the state capital of Sydney.
The word "county" is the general English translation for the Chinese term xiàn (县 or 縣).
However, this pattern is not generally implemented in most states, where cities are generally in the same county as the surrounding area.

The Governor General fills the role of providing Royal Assent to bills passed by the House of Commons and the Senate, reading the Speech from the Throne, signing state documents, formally opening and ending sessions of Parliament, and dissolving Parliament for an election.
Both the Queen and the Governor General are primarily figureheads, with little real power as the position almost always acts at the request of Canada's Head of Government, the Prime Minister, who is also the government party leader who controls such tools of governance as party discipline and patronage appointments.
The Governor General formally appoints the Prime Minister, who is usually the leader of the political party that holds the most seats in the House of Commons.
