 Bill Expanding List of ‘Scenic Rivers’ To Include Blue River Passes State House
OKLAHOMA CITY (March 13, 2003) -- Legislation to expand the list of scenic rivers in Oklahoma to include the Blue River floated through the state House of Representatives and was channeled to the Senate.
“[S]ome of the free-flowing streams and rivers of Oklahoma possess such unique natural scenic beauty, water conservation, fish, wildlife and outdoor recreational values,” state law declares, “that it is the policy of the Legislature to preserve these areas” for “the present and future benefit” of the residents of Oklahoma.
SB 407 passed the Senate on Tuesday, by a vote of 37-1, and was transmitted to the House.
