Elected Vice President of the United States in 1852, William Rufus de Vane King was sworn into office by a special act of Congress on March 4, 1853, while in Havana, Cuba, where he had gone in search of a cure for his tuberculosis.
He was the 27th president from 1909-13, and Chief Justice of the U.S. Supreme Court from 1921-30.
Still would continue to add to his list of firsts; being the first African American to conduct a major symphony orchestra, the first African American to have an opera (Troubled Island) performed by a major opera company (1949), and the first to have an opera (A Bayou Legend) performed on national television (1981).

Akaiami Island is the site of the Aitutaki Island terminus for the TEAL flying boat service (TEAL stands for Tasman Empire Airlines Ltd) – the original Coral Route, which between December 1951 and September 1960 ran between Auckland, Laucala Bay in Fiji to the fabled island of Tahiti, via refueling stops at Samoa and Aitutaki.
Ray Gasparich, president of the Flying Boat Society in New Zealand said the Solent was noisy for the crew, but not for the passengers, and he laments the domination of Pacific routes today by land planes.
There is nothing on the island but the resort, and it is rented to only one party at a time, so guests enjoy the ultimate in privacy for family gatherings, reunions of friends, or milestone birthday or anniversary celebrations.

I am no expert at history, but as someone who if from the British Virgin Islands and sat through all the history lessons, I am 99.9% sure that we have never had any presidents, and certainly none of the names on the list appear to have anything to do with the BVI.
You are down as the man who started the article - can you clue me in to your source(s)?
