Georges-Henri Denys Arcand, born June 25, 1941 in Deschambault, Quebec, is an Academy Award winning Canadian film director, screenwriter and producer.
The film caused an uproar that resulted in it not been distributed publicly for several years but Arcand received such publicity that it gave his fledgling career a great boost.
Released in 2003, the film won Arcand the Best Screenplay Award at the Cannes Film Festival, was nominated for a Golden Globe Award as Best Foreign Language Film and won the Academy Award for Best Foreign Language Film.

After the film ends, it's almost impossible to keep yourself from thinking of all the possible way to interpret such a film.
The film proceeds with the feel of a teen flick, the style of a horror, and a plot suited for a fantasy.
I thoroughly enjoyed this film and would recommend it to anyone who has a taste for dark humor and a desire to put the pieces of the puzzle together over and over, long after the film has ended.

This film is, in its way, a classic Holloywood hagiography, and follows in a number of respects the traditions of hagiography, for instance in the topos of overcoming discouragement.

Her nepotistic inclusion in the film is its undoing.
And it really is a wonderful treatment of the mythos that made the director an actor of legend, and hence opened doors allowing him to direct some of the most wonderful films over the last three decades.
It is with this film that the idea of the western was changed for all time.

The director again shows a knack for pairing with dynamite cinematographers, there using the great Robert Richardson, here switching with equal capability to the late Piotr Sobocinski, to whom the film is dedicated.
Despite its supernatural shadows, this film is, at its core, about the friendship between a man and a young boy.
Having read the novel on which this film is based, I can congratulate Scott Hicks and screenwriter William Goldman for their faithfulness to the general feel of King's novel.

I really liked this film, and I thought it was too bad it wasn't made a year or two later than it was (the large scale usage of Cinemascope was just around the corner), as it would have benefited greatly with a panoramic showing, especially the large battle scenes.
This is one of those films that clicks on all cylinders, as all the elements (the rich and vibrant color cinematography, superior musical score, acting, costumes, etc.) work together well to create a wonderfully entertaining end result.
Even if she was never very fond of this film, WE were, and it is known: the public rules.

It is, in reality, a list of life and Schindler knows it.
There are some tough scenes (most notably, the liquidation of the ghetto, Goeth's (Fiennes) brutality in the camp) and it's all filmed in beautiful fl and white - except for the highlighted girl in the red dress, which has a brilliant symbolic meaning later in the film.

Fincher is a great director but I wouldn't see him direct mission impossible but I hope he'll do a good job because the second one was really crappy.
1st David Fincher does not have a very long list of movies he made, and most of his movies are very overated and once again very much on VISUAL styles....
Fincher is a good director and everything, but if they don't come up with a good script it won't matter who directs it.
