When I first saw that Spielberg was behind the movie, I had my doubts since his earlier work doesn't really fall into this category, but I held faith and I have not been disappointed!
From the beginning it is such a powerful and moving film and it brought tears to my eyes more then once.

I love that they allowed the actors to keep their native accents for this movie; the British kept theirs, and the same for the Americans.
Rosanna Arquette was atrocious in her rendition of Quebec French.
Whenever a movie is set in France but filmed in English, many filmmakers will assume that it's more believable if the actors speak with a British accent.

Overhyped movie on 100 critics "Top 10/Best" List which turns out (for me) to be one of the worst and most boring movie I ever seen!!
The movie is on my top 500, I like it.
The movie was too violent for children and it made it feel like a movie non other than Indiana Jones style (which also lead to the creation of the PG 13 rating)

It is a fascinating moment of the story, that had to be shortened for obvious reasons.
Still, after some consideration, I now agree with the options made by Peter Jackson, and think that the movie prologue narrated by Galadriel was the wisest choice.
It is a powerful film that doesn't fit the rhythm of the standard Hollywood action movie.

I think sad movies are movies that evoke a particular feeling of sorrow and if it's done well it can be very sweet to be swept up in sorrow because we can all identify with it.
For some reason when I think of a sad movie, I keep thinking of "Charly." It was just such ashame that the man we got to know in the story was locked in his brain never to be heard of again.
There were points about the movie that I didn't like and I'm sure a more professional movie viewer could pick it to pieces (I don't know that's why I asked) but I really liked it.

The movie is historically inaccurate, and focuses on racial distrust.
The film is interesting in that, unlike even British movies that are critical of the Raj, it is not at all nostalgic about British rule.
