Roald Dahl (September 13, 1916 – November 23, 1990) was a British novelist and short story author of Norwegian descent, famous as a writer for both children and adults.
Roald Dahl was born in Llandaff, Wales, on 13 September 1916, to Norwegian parents, Harald Dahl and Sofie Magdalene Dahl (née Hesselberg).
Dahl's works for children are usually told from the point of view of a child, typically involve adult villains, usually women, who hate and mistreat children, and feature at least one "good" adult to counteract the villain(s).

From here, Dahl flew missions every day for a period of four weeks, but then he began to get blinding headaches that gave him fl-outs in the air, and he was invalided home to Britain.
Gremlins weren't quite Dahl's invention though: the name 'gremlin' was first coined somewhere around the 1920's: RAF insider jokes blamed gremlins for all the technical malfunctions in airplanes.

There was this story about an old couple, and the man had a huge beard........don't remember exactly what it was called, but the story's pretty good.
Ditto on the "too many good ones" of Dahl's to choose just one, although I'll add to the list Royal Jelly, William and Mary, and The Man from the South, which are great.
The one that feautes a woman that receives a last present from her lover (a piece of fur that goes around the neck, I don´t know the name) and tries to keep it with her even in front of her husband with a caculated plan.
