Romantic composers are those individuals who wrote music in the Romantic era, between about 1815 and 1910.
This is not to be confused with the overlapping period of Romanticism in literature and the history of culture, which is dated from 1770 to 1850.
Thus, not all "Romantic" composers are associated with "Romanticism", and some composers who are associated with some aspects of Romanticism the movement are unequivocally not thought of as "Romantic" composers.

Although there are many more similarities than differences between Classical and Romantic harmony, Romantic composers greatly expanded the harmonic vocabulary of music, using chords, and, especially, sequences of chords unheard of in the Classical era.
But Classical composers generally expressed themselves eloquently within the bounds of established forms and procedures, while in their search for complete freedom of subjective expression Romantic composers accepted fewer constraints.

Your list of great romantic composers shows that the capabilities of Western classical harmony are exciting and far-reaching, yet it is my belief that they reached their peak about a hundred years ago, for no further development has occurred in them since then.
It is no coincidence, however, that all great composers throughout history have been, for the most part, independents; we hear about those who wrote or pioneered a style for personal significance, not those who chiseled their music around or reactionarily against pre-set guidelines.
And composers that had a great sense of musicality but were not versed enough in the technical side of their craft to be original will also be forgotten.

His first composition caught the eye of Robert Schumann, an earlier romantic composer, who wrote in his published journal an essay exclaiming Brahms, "was called forth to give us the highest ideal expression of our time." This began a friendship between the two composers that lasted until Schumann's death.
