The scientists in charge of the experiments reported that they were disappointed that 'the infecting dose of brucellosis in the field was about one third of that found in the laboratory.

Professor Ian Wilmut, the scientist who created the first cloned mammal, Dolly the sheep, and who is now based at the University of Edinburgh, welcomed the advance as a further step towards producing cloned stem cells to treat a multitude of illnesses including motor neurone disease.
The scientists used a method known as "somatic cell transfer", where the genetic material is removed from the "original" creature's cell and placed in an empty egg.

WHO removed Singapore from its list of countries affected by the virus, saying it was 20 days - twice the virus’s maximum incubation period - since the last locally acquired case was placed in isolation.
Meanwhile, US scientists believe they will have a vaccine for Sars within three years, far less than the 15-20 years it has taken to create vaccines in the past.
Dr Gary Nabel, of the National Institute of Allergy and Infectious Diseases, said scientists were set to finish basic lab work, create the vaccine and test it on animals in just one year.

 Cloning Fact Sheet
Scientists studying a particular gene often use bacterial plasmids to generate multiple copies of the same gene.
Before this demonstration, scientists believed that once a cell became specialized as a liver, heart, udder, bone, or any other type of cell, the change was permanent and other unneeded genes in the cell would become inactive.
Scientists hope that one day therapeutic cloning can be used to generate tissues and organs for transplants.

In July 2003 MCBI Chief Scientist Lance Morgan and I drafted a statement and circulated it to deep-sea experts to ensure its accuracy.
The attached statement reflects the insights we gained from scientists when we subsequently circulated it for signing at the 10th Deep-Sea Biology Symposium in Coos Bay OR USA in August 2003 and the 2nd International Symposium on Deep Sea Corals in Erlangen, Germany in September 2003.
In short, based on current knowledge, deep-sea coral and sponge communities appear to be as important to the biodiversity of the oceans and the sustainability of fisheries as their analogues in shallow tropical seas.

To a point the creation of such a list is as you point out subjective, and subject to the bias of the individual or group that prepare it.
His list is supposed to be about the most influential people, but he put Muhammad first because he was both a religious and military leader.
My choice of Muhammad to lead the list of the world's most influential persons may surprise some readers and may be questioned by others, but he was the only man in history who was supremely successful on both the religious and secular levels...

To add to the objections of many others on this list regarding who is the employer and who has the leverage and sets the terms and conditions, it seems to me that it is the same legal argument as in the case of redundancy or unfair dismissal waivers.
Does nobody realize that there are hundreds of highly experienced older scientists and researchers out there on ftcs contracts who have already proven their worth and don't require career consultation but are still struggling with short term contracts and insecurity.
The last quote I remember reading for staff replacement costs was an average figure for the replacement of a professional member of staff in an organisation, and the figure given was that the total cost was in the region of £10,000 per member of staff.
