 Scottish heritage - Book List
Although Scottish pottery may be traced back over many centuries, it was not until the mid eighteenth century that it became an important element in the national economy, with the levels of production dramatically increasing throughout the nineteenth century.
Considerable study of the Scottish pottery industry since the mid twentieth century has revealed the diversification of production and showed that exports and innovation were more significant than previously thought.
Graeme Cruickshank was a founder member of the Scottish Pottery Society in 1973, established its archive and served as archivist for ten years.

Other famous names from the Scottish Renaissance era, between the 50s and 70s, bringing a fresh new poetic and often political voice in Scotland, also include Robert Garioch, whose poem, Auld Reekie, is a moving tribute to Robert Fergusson`s poem of the same name.
During the summer there will be weekly events, with a selection of the writers featured in the exhibition appearing in person to talk about their work.

William Selkirk was the son of a Scottish tanner, who became the master of the Cinque Ports Galley, a privateering ship.
Selkirk went to sea in 1704 under William Dampier and was put ashore at his own request, or according to some sources as a punishment of insubordination, on the island of Juan Fernandez in the Pacific, hundreds of miles off the coast of Chile.

The fifth, published in spring 1989, was edited by myself, along with Rosie Cowan (I also edited issue 4, along with Matthew Fitt).
FOX 5 featured artwork by Andrew on the cover, as did the first four issues, and it opened with three poems of Andrew’s, and also included poetry by writers both established (Anne Stevenson, Christopher Whyte, Robert Alan Jamieson) and budding (Roddy Lumsden, Alan Riach, Matthew Fitt, Mike Cullen).
It still gives me great pleasure to have been briefly editor to such an impressive list of Scottish writers: the University of Edinburgh in the late 1980s was a place of great creativity.
