 Amazon.com: Coupling - The Complete First Season: DVD: Jack Davenport,Gina Bellman,Sarah Alexander,Kate Isitt,Ben Miles,Richard Coyle,Richard Mylan,Martin Dennis
"Coupling" struck me as a sort of British blend of "Friends," "Seinfeld," and "Sex in the City." But in the end the show has its own very delightful identity.
The show basically analyzes relationships and their ups and downs, situations that you may be familiar with (the nervousism on the first date, an ex-girlfriend asking you to go somewhere with her and asking you not to tell you are apart) and of course, sex.
Coupling has been honoured with the prestigious Silver Rose of Montreux, Best TV Comedy Award, and is recent winner at the 2003 British Comedy Awards.

Floridian: 'Coupling' loses its wit in translation
BBC - The British Coupling is filmed in the streets of London, inside pubs and restaurants and within sets that look like realistic approximations of places people might live, similar to how New York is portrayed in Sex and the City.
NBC - Like Friends, the U.S. Coupling is filmed on a brightly colored studio stage that looks even less like New York City, lending an unrealistic feel that hardly helps the comedy.
With a star as jaw-dropping as Sofer, the pilot's showcase scene - in which Susan flashes a breast at the five other characters in a restaurant for some reason or another - feels contrived and needlessly exploitive.

USATODAY.com - Catch up with 'Friends' episodes
As we saw with Sex and the City, jokes often take a backseat to plot when a TV series nears its finale.
The final episode begins with Rachel putting on her shoes … at the foot of Ross' bed.
The cuffs end up belonging to kinky Grandma Geller.

 The Sopranos DVD
Along with Sex And The City, the HBO original series The Sopranos took the world by storm in the late-1990s with its cutting edge drama and acerbic wit.
Below is a list of episodes included on The Sopranos DVD (Season 1):
The Sopranos DVD (Season 1) offers a number of dramatic episodes including the self-titled series premiere in which the groundwork for the show is set when Tony Soprano visits a therapist in hopes of ending his panic attacks (sounds similar to the plot for Analyze This!).

Considering how long both series ran and that The Simpsons is still releasing new episodes, a set-by-season might work...like X-Files, The Sopranos, and Sex and The City.
The only problem is the studios are aware that neither series took off until their second and third seasons...that's why they are hestitant to release them in season sets.
The episodes weren't as good as the later ones, in my opinion, but it was still a popular show from the get-go.

Emmy Puts "Six Feet Under" on Top - Jul 17, 2003 - E! Online News
Meanwhile, The Sopranos, which was MIA last year because new episodes debuted after the eligibility cutoff, took a whack at the Emmys with 13 nominations, tying with Sex and the City and Everybody Loves Raymond.
Missing on the Emmy list for the first time in more than a decade: NBC's drama dynasty Law & Order, which was looking for a record 12th consecutive nomination for Outstanding Drama Series.
Last year, Six Feet was also a leading contender but failed to win a top award; the show lost the Best Drama Series trophy to NBC's The West Wing, which placed second this year in total nominations, with 15.

 Sound Bites
Love Monkey, the insipid Sex and the City For Dudes series which was dropped by CBS after airing only three episodes, has been salvaged by it's pop-culture-obsessed Viacom cousin VH1 -- good news for Teddy Geiger fans everywhere and almost no one else.
He will play one of several Stars Hollow troubadour-wannabes that descend on the town after the regular troubadour, Grant Lee Phillips, is discovered by Neil Young and whisked off on a tour.
You also get the "Health" episode that MTV2 won't air anymore -- a kid dressed as Hitler asking people on the street "what's wrong with the youth of today?" apparently didn't set well with some.

Television > TV Series > Absolutely Fabulous
When anyone raves about Sex and the City, you need only to remind her that the Brits did it first--and better--with the creation of the brave say-anything show about sex, drugs, and the battle of the bulge.
The New York Post called it "Utterly original, utterly hilariousone of the best television comedies ever made." Episodes 1-6: "Fashion" - Edina and Patsy put on a fashion show.
The fifth series of Absolutely Fabulous finds Edina coping with the unexpected pregnancy of her long-suffering daughter Saffron (Julia Sawalha) and the departure of all of her PR clients except for Emma "Baby Spice" Bunton (playing herself with good humor).

It's more funny without the laughter - The CHUD.COM Message Boards
Sex and the City and Malcom in the Middle were the only two live comedies I watched on the telly and I trully enjoyed the lack of audience laughter.
Problem with canned laughter is that, after watching a lot of episodes, you start to get annoyed with that one goofy sounding laugh that gets played at least 3 times per episode.
My favourite comedy shows at the moment are all lacking in audience/canned laughter, like Legless said, it's a good indication that the show's jokes just aren't that funny.

*Sex and the City is off the list because that show is done and I mean done.
If I got it in syndication like it is in the US it will go back to at least the top half of the bottom half of the list.
I do not know what I was thinking with the last list.

Dunno about Desperate Housewives, it'll be a great hit for 7 but i don't think its the kind of show i would like, i think it would suit Sex and the City/ The O.C fans.
Well im assuming its a new episode, it would be very doubtful they would put another repeat of the show seeing how they have plenty of episodes from the first season and a whole second season of the show.
Desperate Housewives is one of the best shows i have seen in a longggg longgg time, well worth the watch

I think every series if it's put to DVD should be released in airdate order simply because if you're a fan and spending over a hundred dollars for a set, then you want them in the order they originally ran.

The Simpsons Channel Old News January 2003
The Simpsons did not win the Golden Globe for best "musical or comedy series" tonight, as that honor went to HBO's "Curb Your Enthusiasm." The other shows besides OFF that were nominated included "Sex and the City," "Friends," and "Will & Grace." Congratulations anyway to The Simpsons for receiving its first Golden Globe nomination.
As the 300th episode of The Simpsons quickly approaches, Entertainment Weekly has looked back at "Homer and co.'s most hilarious, inspired moments" and has compiled a list of their 25 favorite episodes of all time.
That is why The Simpsons is poised to replace "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" as the longest-running sitcom in history.
