South Korea - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
South Korea, officially known as the Republic of Korea, is an East Asian state on the southern half of the Korean Peninsula.
South Korea can be divided into four general regions: an eastern region of high mountain ranges and narrow coastal plains; a western region of broad coastal plains, river basins, and rolling hills; a southwestern region of mountains and valleys and a southeastern region dominated by the broad basin of the Nakdong River.
The South Korean military is composed of the Republic of Korea Army (ROKA), Republic of Korea Navy (ROKN), Republic of Korea Air Force (ROKAF), and Republic of Korea Marine Corps (ROKMC), together with reserve forces.

K-League - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
Of the five initial clubs of the former professional league, only Daewoo, POSCO and Yukong Elephants remain in the K-League; Kookmin Bank FC dropped out of the league at the end of 1984, and Hallelujah followed the season after.
Most of the member clubs in the league are owned by major Korean Chaebols, and the club names reflect that fact.
The amount of games, clubs and the systems used have varied through the years, but for 2006 the league will continue to use the two-part season with championship play-offs at the end of the year, as previously used in 2004 and 2005.

The British Influence On Korean Football
The modern sport of football as we know it today was shaped in the public schools of England during the late 19th Century, from where it was exported around the world and grew into the cultural phenomenon it is today.
The game became particularly popular in Korean schools around the turn of the century, but whilst the domestic leagues and international sides of England and Scotland were flourishing, football remained little more than an extracurricular activity for students and the Korean military during the early part of the 20th century.
Football was particularly enjoyed in the foreign language schools of Korea, where games were played at army yards under the observation of British military sports coaches.
