The responsibility for the printed bibliography has rested with the Swedish Society of Literature, in whose annual Samlaren the Bibliography of Swedish History of Literature was published between 1881 and 2002.
Authors writing both in Swedish and foreign languages are normally only included when their writings in Swedish are treated.
In addition to records registered for BSHL there was a limited registration in LIBRIS of articles concerning foreign authors (Swedish collections and volumes of yearbooks published in 1995 or later were always indexed in their entirety) as well as reviews of fiction (mainly longer, essay-like ones).

The book is a serious textbook (but not dry and boring like in high school), and the Authors are writing it to an audience who actually want to learn Swedish, and are not interested in learning only travel phrases.
You can, after spending a week or two with other books, return to this book to complete the remainder of the lessons, most of which will be very easy, some of which will still be very difficult (I dipped in and out of it but never again worked with it as true programmed learning).
I tried to start learning Swedish straight off with this text, and was soon overwhelmed by the sheer mass of vocabulary (often not beginner-level at all, such as "manufacture", "plastic handle", "red-checkered") and the very quick pace with which it explains the grammar.

For some authors, I have attempted to indicate which of their full set of names were used as a byline by the use of parentheses, but different forms occur in different places, my sources don't always make clear what was used, and it's too time-consuming to check everyone.
An author birth or death date preceded by ‘J’ means it's in the Julian (old-style) calendar; an author birth or death date preceded by ‘G’ means it's in the Gregorian (new-style) calendar.
