The counties in current-day Finland established in 1634 were: Åbo and Björneborg County, Nyland and Tavastehus County, Viborg and Nyslott County, Österbotten County and Kexholm County.
Norrland County (in 1645 divided as Västerbotten County, Hudiksvall County and Härnösand County.
The Swedish government is investigating the possibilities of merging the current 21 counties into circa 9 larger regions along the lines of the current riksområden used for statistical purposes.

The 15 regions, one autonomous region, one regional town, and one republic town were abolished and replaced by 38 counties and the city of Bucharest.
Where the county name is the same as its capital, the German name of the capital (dating back to the Austro-Hungarian Empire) is given.

In Pennington County, two GREAT HORNED OWLS were seen along Johnson Drive east of Thief River Falls on the morning of July 22.
This was at the Plover Prairie, in Lac Qui Parle county 2 miles East of hwy.
