This is a list of Swedish regiments and other military units (divisions, brigades, battalions, companies) that have existed since the 16th century.
Regiments were the principle fighting unit in the Swedish Army from the time of Gustavus Adolphus on to the Second World War.
In 1949, the Swedish Army was reorganised, with the regiments being used as training units for conscripts during peacetime.

The regiments has been the main fighting unit in the Swedish Army for a very long time, from the time of Gustav II Adolph on to the Second World War.
Storregementen or landsregementen, regiments of the land (regional regiments), these were regiments that where organized by Gustav II Adolph in the end of the 1610s from the smaller units fänika and fana raised in the various parts of Sweden during the time of Gustav Vasa:

Fraser’s Highlanders, or the 78th Regiment was organized by Simon Fraser, son of the notorious lord Lovat who was executed by the English government for the part he acted in the Rising of the Forty-five.
The regiment was quickly marched to Greenock, where it embarked, in company with Montgomery’s Highlanders, and landed at Halifax in June 1757, where it remained till it formed a junction with the expedition against Louisbourg.
Regiment after regiment was hurled against the beseiged, only to be hurled back with the loss of half their number.
