  PlayStation 2: Tekken 4 Review at Ps2Fantasy.com
Tekken Tag Tournament, one of the Playstation 2 launch titles, didn't build on the story of the pre-existing Tekken storyline: it was a sort of anthology of the extraordinary characters that contributed to the success of this series.
While Tekken 4 is away from offering the overabundance of characters of Tekken Tag Tournament, it still features 22 playable characters, each with a unique combat style; three of them are new to the series.
In Tekken 4 the full movement of the arm that delivers the punch is important - you hit the button and the character starts his movement, moves his arm, and finally hits the target.

In Tekken 4 she was returning to life as an assassin and hired by the mob to kill Steve Fox, who turned out to be her Son from being artificially impregnated while in cold sleep.
In Tekken 4 she is mysteriously and inexplicably absent, but now she's back in Tekken 5, to settle the score between her and Nina after a massive gunfight.
In Tekken 2, she had an amulet which allegedly could control and subdue great powers and spirits and was coveted by Kazuya; who was, however, unsuccessful at taking it away from her.

Tekken 5 changes all that and went back to its roots with a healthy blend of Tekken 4 as well.
Tekken 5 does a better job of balancing out each fighter and for people like me this is great.
Speaking of characters, there are 32 fighters in total all with their own unique fighting styles (with the exception of Panda and Eddie who are palette swaps).

 Tekken 4 - GameCritics.com
Tekken has always had a deep history for its characters available online or in magazines, but has never integrated it into the game except for some puzzling CG endings.
Hes been in previous Tekkens, but his move list has received such a drastic makeover that he is a "new" character for all intents and purposes.
The character models are more detailed and the facial expressions are great, but Namco went overboard with gaudy reflection effects on the surfaces of the water and some clothing.

 Tekken Tag Tournament - GameCritics.com
Tekken Tag Tournament is most accurately described as a 2.5-D fighter, with the backgrounds and characters modeled in 3D, but keeping the fighting limited to face-to-face on a 2-D plane.
It's also important to note that in the past, about half of the characters were merely different-looking models with their moves consisting of a mixture of the other characters.
While it was fairly entertaining to try and find the character with the right mix of moves to best suit your playing style, Namco has improved on this by adding a number of original moves to every character, fleshing them out into more distinct and individual people.

Tekken 5 Review for PlayStation 2 at GameBattles
Tekken grew in popularity, spawning five different sequels and held a firm grasp as king of console fighters on Playstation and Playstation 2.
Characters hang in the air quite a bit, and success against difficult computer or human opponents depends on the player's ability to use the juggle.
Tekken Tag Tournament had a greater number of characters overall, but the variety of Tekken 5 supports the claim "most characters in the franchise" as advertised.

Tekken 1 was released a few months after the PlayStation hit shelves and propelled the system to stardom.
Tekken 2 came along, and was another "better-than-perfect" translation of the arcade version, adding modes and what were some of the most amazing FMV sequences available at the time.
Tekken 3 has caused much debate prior to its release, as it was slated to be the first Tekken game that wouldn't be a perfect translation.

PlayStation 2: Tekken Tag Tournament Review at Ps2Fantasy.com
The speed of the characters, the depth of the control system, the polygonal graphics set a standard that all the fighting games released after Tekken necessarily had to reckon with.
Tekken Tag Tournament is a title that does not want to innovate: it pretends to be a sort of encyclopaedia of the series.
And Tekken Tag Tournament is just this: a summary of the preceding episodes that will allow nostalgic ones to have in only one disc all their favorite characters in a new enhanced version and new players to have in their hands the best chapter of the series.

 Tekken 5 - ps2 Review - Game Revolution
While Tekken 4 had a decent training mode with on-screen button prompts and a dialog box to let you know whether it was a dragon fist or an iron punch you were throwing, Tekken 5 removes the training mode and on-screen record of which moves you actually perform.
Each character’s textures and contours are remarkably rendered, and some appear to have gone through the wringer; both Marshall Law and Paul Phoenix, for example, have a crack-addict look to them, which one might expect after years of severe physical abuse.
Graphically and aurally, Tekken 5 makes Tekken 4 look like an ugly cousin without an “inside voice.” The backgrounds are imaginative and beautiful and the music is less intrusive than the techno-arcade fare that the series has been saddled with in the past.

 G4 - Feature - 'Tekken 4' (PS2) Review
Moreover, there are some glaring inconsistencies in the way the characters age, seeing how this is based 10 years after the last "Tekken." Marshall Law, for example, has aged quite a bit while Ling doesn't seem to have aged at all.
Tekken Force also makes for a good diversion, especially when you think of how side-scrolling beat-'em-ups are lacking in today's gaming libraries.
The Tekken Force mode is a nice touch, but in the end it isn't more than a second-rate side-scrolling brawler.

Tekken 5 for PlayStation 2 Reviews at Shopping.com
In Tekken 4 one of the main concerns was the low amount of characters.
Tekken 5 now has the complete Arcade experience, as you play CPU fighters, that each have nicknames and high scores, and so the point of arcade mode is to move up the rankings list and beat the top scoring CPU fighter, but all while making money.
Characters now have dialogue, and speak throughout the game, as well as give off grunts and moans, and other sounds of pain when being hit, which greatly adds to the experience.

 Tekken 5 (ps2: 2005): Reviews
Tekken 5 is oozing playability and gameplay and is certainly a fitting continuation of the saga.
The quick, aggressive, and brutal matches of Tekken might not be everyone’s ideal fight, but the game does have depth and a decent sense of balance, not to mention a lot of great-looking moves and great character variety.
Tekken 5 is great because it not only refines the wall-attack system and other skills like counters, but it also remains totally accessible to even the most novice fighting-game fans.

With Tekken Tag Tournament on the PS2, the characters are fluidly smooth, the backgrounds are INCREDIBLE and the combinations of moves for each character both reflect the personality of the fighter and are executed flawlessly on the screen.
Tekken Tag Tournament is a compilation of ALL Tekken games, which explains the appearence of some older characters, some of which are dead.
Tekken Tag features ALL characters from the previous games, thankfully with the exception of Gon(The dumbest character ever, in my opinion), although they may not be playable (Dr. Boskonovitch makes an appearence in the mini-game).
