The Outer Limits TV Show Season Episodes And Trivia
The Outer Limits TV show was a highly literate anthology sci-fi series that would strike fear into one's soul.
Originally, The Outer Limits was to be called "Please Stand By" but it was feared that the audience might think that a real emergency existed.
ABC liked the background music from the Outer Limits so much that it was also used, nearly note-for-note, on episodes of "The Fugitive (1963)" and "The Invaders (1967)".

The Outer Limits - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The Outer Limits was an American science fiction anthology television series.
The Outer Limits originally ran from 1963 to 1965 on the American broadcast network ABC, and a total of 49 episodes.
Harlan Ellison wrote two episodes (Soldier and the award-winning Demon with a Glass Hand) for the show's more cautious second season; Ellison later argued that both episodes were the inspiration for the Terminator film series, and indeed in the closing credits of the first movie the creators "wish to acknowledge the works of Harlan Ellison".

The Outer Limits was The Twilight Zone's darker cousin: Creepy beyond words, seldom with a happy ending, often thought-provoking and grim.
In retrospect, considering the budget constraints and censor limitations of the era, the Outer Limits was one of the most well-written and thoughtful sci-fi shows of all time.
The latest reincarnation of The Outer Limits is not bad, but it just doesn't inspire the same "awe and mystery" of the original series, in my opinion at least.

The Outer Limits: The Human Factor
The eighth episode in the series, "The Human Factor" is basically an exchange of identities, one good and one bad, and how the bad takes advantage of it.
The episode invloves: a scientist, his love?, a pyscho soldier, a bunch of inept officers, awful/silly dialogue, a head-scratching plot, a nuclear bomb, officiers that arm nuclear bombs to show another person how it works(?), etc etc etc. This is one of the worse Outer Limits episodes.
The Outer Limits Official Companion is unjustifiably harsh on this episode, which I happen to think is one of the series best.

The Outer Limits is a smart show but what may suprise people who aren't familiar with this version is that many episodes are very profound, well-crafted dramas.
I first watched The New Outer Limits series entirely by accident some years ago when it was broadcast arbitrarily at a channel late at night here in Greece.

This episode speaks in many levels, as people who are trying to discover anything in a new field, have to prepare for the consequences.
Not the best episode, but by avoiding many of the obvious pitfalls, I give it four stars, giving it the benefit of my thinking back to the early sixties when it was made.

This element in the episode leans towards the unbelievable yet it undeniably adds to the story's suspense and is essential to the story's theme.
Note: "Soldier", along with "Demon With a Glass Hand" are commonly said to be the two "Outer Limits" episodes which were the inspiration for James Cameron when he made his now famous TERMINATOR films.
Personally I think "The Man Who Was Never Born" should be included as well in that list of episodes that inspired Cameron.

A more powerful initial signal can travel farther before this happens, but there is a limit; too much energy and the level of subspace that is used won't be tightly coupled to our own space-time any more, and the signal will probably go awry.
