Ontario is bordered by the Canadian provinces of Manitoba to the west, Quebec to the east, and the American states of Michigan, New York, Minnesota, Ohio and Pennsylvania to the south.
Ontario, and the Greater Toronto Area in particular, have been the recipients of most immigration to Canada, largely immigrants from war-torn Europe in the 1950s and 1960s and after changes in federal immigration law, a massive influx of non-Europeans since the 1970s.
Ontario's right to Northwestern Ontario was determined by the Judicial Committee of the Privy Council in 1884 and confirmed by the Canada (Ontario Boundary) Act, 1889 of the Parliament of the United Kingdom.

The settlement of the entire district commenced with the construction of the Colonization Road from Bobcaygeon to the north, and so early as 1859 there were a number of settlers in the Township of Minden, and the nucleus of a village had been formed at the point where the Bobcaygeon Road crossed the Gull River.
The Township of Minden ranks first in the list of the municipalities of the county in population and in agricultural development.
As soon as the Bobcaygeon Road was constructed as far north as Burnt River, settlers began to locate themselves in Lutterworth, and about the same date settlers also began to arrive in the western portion of the township by means of its water communication.

After a few miles of frontage road along the 401 freeway, we were able to move right down to the shore of Lake Ontario and use Lakeshore Road for a good 15 or 20 miles.

Aside from a cool start to the day and ride, and a 'slightly' bothersome head-wind at times, it was a perfect day for a good long ride.
The fall colours were amazing, and the roads were in great shape.
I've no problem confessing that I didn't miss the cooler temperatures, once the sun had set, and the 'wee' speed bump of a hill on the Richardson Side Rd required to get up to get home.

After passing the Ducks Unlimited site at Atocas Bay there is a bend in the road towards te south and both birds were in the fields to the west of the road.
Williams Road is the first intersection east from Leamington on CTY RD. 34 (Talbot Road East).
On 5th Road East, three Wilson's Snipe were flushed from the east side of the road just north of Powerline Road and Eastern Bluebird and Savannah Sparrows could be heard singing.
