 | | The first one is the oldest Trailways timetable I have, issued April 5, 1936. The National Trailways Bus System was formed on February 2,1936, in Chicago, Illinois, with five founding members, Burlington, Santa Fe, Missouri Pacific, Safeway of Illinois and Martz. |
 | | In 1935 the name of the company was changed from Southern Kansas Stage Lines to Santa Fe Trail Transportation Company and later that year the AT&SF Railroad bought an interest in the company, acquiring a portion of the stock, marking the first time the railroad had any involvement with the bus line. |
 | | With Martz gone and Safe Way failing financially, three Trailways members decided something had to be done to preserve their western feed and connections and when Safe Way declared bankruptcy in 1938, Adirondack, Virginia and Eastern Trailways formed a new company to buy the assets from the receivers. |
