The United States and Middle East
U.S. soon removes Iraq from its list of nations supporting terrorism and allows U.S. arms to be transferred to Iraq.
The list also excludes many actions of Israel in which the United States is indirectly implicated because of its military, diplomatic, and economic backing for Israel.
The list minimizes the grievances against the United States in the region because it excludes more generalized long‑standing policies, such as U.S. backing for authoritarian regimes (arming Saudi Arabia, training the secret police in Iran under the Shah, providing arms and aid to Turkey as it ruthlessly attacked Kurdish villages, etc.).

List of U.S. military history events - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
This is a list of militarized conflicts involving the United States, the dates show the years in which U.S. military units (primarily regular, occasionally irregular) participated.
The categories on this (incomplete, in-development) list are somewhat arbitrary: Not all of these events were military, some were not even violent, but together they delineate the periodic reappearance of the martial spirit in the life of the United States.
The list includes notable events about the military history of the United States.

 U Boats
In following 6 years, over 1100 boats were built, and was often seen as the biggest threat to Great Britain in the whole war.
Those submarines operated in all oceans of the world - from the North Sea, to the Atlantic, the American Coast (Operation Donnerschlag), the Arctic and even the Indian Ocean and the Pacific - until mid 1943 they were superior to their allied hunters.
It was planned to build about 250 in the Naval construction program called Z-Plan, but since this plan was never realized, Germany entered the war with a much less number of submarines than the allied nations.

 U-boat
The starboard boats could not be lowered on account of the list; everyone therefore ran across to the port boats, which, in the hurry and panic, had been lowered with great stupidity
They all rushed, ran, screamed for boats, tore and thrust one another from the ladders leading down to them, fought for the lifebelts and jostled one another on the sloping deck.
Then - a second explosion, followed by the escape of white hissing steam from all hatchways and scuttles.

U-boat - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
The capture of U-505 was critical due to the capture of her codebooks, which provided the Allies with the ability to read recent German codes.
The term derives from the German Navy's system of naming its submarines with U- followed by a number, where the U stands for Unterseeboot (literally, "undersea boat"), the German word for submarine.
The primary targets of the U-boat campaigns in both world wars were the merchant convoys bringing supplies from Canada and the United States to Europe.

 EH U-Boats and Submarines
Another list member and I were discussing a "K" scenario where they had gotten ahold of a ex soviet submarine tender which geatly extended the range and usefulness of the prototype ww 2 subs.
The Russians commissioned him (the Russian Navy considers submarines to be "male", unlike many other navies, which refer to the boats as "her") on 31 December 1969.
The single Papa SSN the Russians have left, K-222, is apparently the fastest sub in the Russian fleet (capable of 44.7 knots -- which is very fast for a 7,000 ton sub, even faster than the 42 knots of the Russians' famous Alfa class subs, and nearly double the 24 knots of a Victor!).
