 MARC Code List for Countries
The list includes individual codes for presently existing national entities, states of the United States, provinces and territories of Canada, divisions of the United Kingdom, and internationally recognized dependencies.
States of the United States, provinces and territories of Canada, and divisions of the United Kingdom are arranged alphabetically under the name of the parent jurisdiction.
Thus when using country codes to retrieve records, if the code for the entity has changed since the implementation of an earlier code list, it is advisable to specify both the new and previously assigned (historical) codes in the retrieval request if records coded prior to the changes are desired.

The United Kingdom market for organic fruit and vegetables was valued at about UK£165 million (at retail level) in 1999 (source: Datamonitor) although it is likely that it was significantly higher than this at the end of 2000.
In the United Kingdom, by contrast, organic farmers and growers have had to sell direct to the public (in farm shops and the now rapidly developing and popular farmers markets), or have developed links with a relatively small number of wholesalers and the small number of supermarket chains.
